Why dairy colostrum?
Research has shown that the immune and growth factors
in dairy colostrum and early season milk from cows are nearly identical
to human. Dairy colostrum is not species specific and works effectively
in humans and other animals.

What about BSE?
neovite is produced exclusively from New Zealand
herds, all of which are certified free from BSE. See our news item for
NZ certification. The pastures grazed do not receive herbicides or pesticides.
All batches are tested to be free of antibiotics to international standards.

Why do we need neovite?
After our teens bodies begin the aging process
by gradually producing less of the immune and growth factors that resist
disease and heal tissue. neovite
is the only natural source of these life-enhancing components. Research
shows that neovite
supports immune function and can help use fat for fuel and optimise cellular
reproduction.

How safe is neovite?
Colostrum and early season milk are natural foods
that have been used for millenia as human food on dairy farms worldwide.
Their use is widespread in rural Ireland, Scandinavia and Finland and
are treasured foods for Masai warriors in Kenya. Colostrum is often used
by Australian and New Zealand athletes at the highest competitive levels.
There are no reports of any adverse effects among milk-drinking populations.

What about lactose intolerance?
The amount of lactose in
neovite low lactose is lowered by
membrane filtration to less than 10%. Any discomfort could be a sign that
colostrum is healing the digestive tract. If you have a dairy intolerance,
seek advice from your practitioner or from ourselves by email. Please
report any discomfort to us using our contacts page.

What about pregnancy and nursing?
Consult with your medical professional before taking
any prescription drugs, over the counter medications, herbs or nutritional
supplements. This includes neovite.

Can children have neovite?
Paediatricians recommend
that infants who have not been breastfed, can be given
neovite to supplement their formula once they
are taking cow's milk.

What about pets?
neovite works for pets and other mammals because
it is not species specific. The neovite
powder can be added to their water.

What about the calf?
The colostrum used to make neovite is taken from
the cow within the first 48 hours of calving. A cow produces enough colostrum
and milk for twins, although these are very rare. It is essential that
the calf obtains colostrum immediately after birth and then at least 2
litres of colostrum within the first 12 hours of calving for its survival.
Only the surplus first milk can be collected to make neovite.

Why is neovite de-fatted?
De-fatting neovite
is important to keep the colostrum from rancid oxidation on the shelf.
Growth and immune factors are proteins, not a part of the fat.

Which
neovite should I take?
neovite is available as
two different products: neovite
- a low fat product ideal for immune boost, athletic performance and some
digestive conditions; neovite
low lactose - a low fat, lactose reduced product ideal for diabetics
and people with lactose sensitivity. For a more detailed breakdown, go
to the neovite composition
page.

How
much should I take?
The amount of neovite
you take will vary by your age, weight and health problems.
neovite is a food and can safely be taken in any
amount. Go to the
neovite usage
page to estimate your needs. .

How long will it take me to feel any different?
neovite is a multi-functional food for physiological support. It is most effective when taken over an extended period of time, rather than in great quantity. If you are an athlete, expect to use 10-20g per day for 2 months before any significant enhancement. If you are taking neovite for digestive health, you should see an improvement within 10-14 days at 5g per day. 3-5g of neovite daily for several months may be necessary to aid autoimmune conditions. You may safely exceed the quoted amounts.

Does alcohol affect neovite?
Some reports suggest that ethanol (the alcohol that we drink) blocks the activity of several bioactive components contained in neovite, in particular EGF. It is recommended that to gain maximum benefit from neovite, alcohol should be avoided wherever possible.

Can I take neovite with medications?
neovite heals the digestive tract so well that
all substances taken internally, food, herbs, natural healing substances
and medications, will become more available to the body. Although
neovite has no known drug interactions, you may
find that the other supplements and medications that you are taking will
have a more pronounced effect.

Are there any side effects from
neovite?
Side effects are very rare. Due to its detoxifying
nature, certain side effects may occur, known as a Herxheimer reaction.
It's possible for immunoglobulin-bound toxins to produce minor rashes,
bowel changes or flu-like symptoms until they are expelled from the body.
Side effects may stem from other supplements or medications that that
are taken with neovite
that are finally being used by the body. You may consult with your practitioner
to re-evaluate your needs. This may particularly apply to insulin and
HRT medications.

I'm a vegetarian.
Although neovite is derived from an animal source, the amount taken is surplus
to the needs of the calf. No suffering is incurred by the cow or calf
in the production of neovite.

Should neovite be pasteurised?
The udders can be contaminated with E-coli, salmonella
and other pathogenic bacteria from manure. This can contaminate dairy
products which MUST be pasteurised to kill pathogens. There are two ways
of pasteurising colostrum - HTST (high temperature/short time) 15 seconds
at 72 deg C. or a vat process 30-minute at 60 deg.
neovite HTST pasteurisation
uses equipment found in the modern dairy that does not denature the colostrum.
In the 30-minute pasteurisation process, a vat is heated from the outside.
During the time this takes, bacteria grow in the colostrum, reducing its
efficacy.

Why collect over 48 hrs rather
than the first 6?
The first milking after birth is reserved for the calf. The second
milking of colostrum, collected during six to twelve hours after birth,
is higher in IgG growth factor than subsequent milking. Because the level
of IgG is high, the other more important healing components in colostrum,
such as lactoferrin and PRP, are less. These factors are higher in the
early season milk up to 48 hours after birth.

Is oestrogen found in neovite?
There is a trace amount of cow's oestrogen in
neovite. This form
of oestrogen is not bio-available to humans when taken orally.
neovite's growth factors balance the body's sex
and growth hormones - both male and female. It is advised that women on
hormone replacement therapy that are experiencing symptoms of too much
oestrogen may need to adjust their medication.
